The last four years have been tough.
I can’t and won’t try to deny that.
But the last four years (well, a little under 46 months, actually) have been huge for America. Massive. And had Barack Obama not been president and done everything he did, we could have easily been in a second Great Depression. However, Barack Obama saved us from falling into a deep economic hole, and he got us back on track to a strong and lasting recovery.
Oh yeah, about that. If Republicans legitimately have the people of America as their foremost concern, why should they be so scared of Obama’s recovery? It’s a slow recovery, and I have to acknowledge this much, but at least it’s a freaking recovery. Again, had Obama done nothing, or had McCain been elected, we would not be in a recovery. We would be worse off than those fateful days in 2008. Way worse. That being said, we can gather that Obama’s presidency has had effects on the American economy.
In a good way.
Not only has Obama soothed the economy, he’s also soothed the burden on so many American families. Not the companies he was economically forced to bail out, not the executives of these companies. He’s fought to cut taxes for middle-class and working-class families in America, while making the tax system more fair in making everyone pay their fair share.
Let’s talk about the Buffett Rule really quickly. Republicans will often whine and say that this will kill jobs. Well, let’s use some common sense here—something that many on the right tend to lack, but we’ll get into that another day. If income is taxed, and Republicans don’t want such high tax rates…here’s an idea! How about investing some of your income into…you guessed it…creating jobs, jobs, and more jobs! That way, you wouldn’t have that income taxed and you would also be helping out those less fortunate than you. (Or is that against the Republicans’ Code of Being in the Republican Party?) So now we know that Obama wants to reform the tax code.
In a good way.
Another issue we must address here: Obama has taken a revolutionary stand on so many other issues. For example, on the issue of abortion, Obama believes that even though he is personally against abortion, he does not have female reproductive organs, and as such, he’s not entitled to decide what a woman should do with her body. It’s just common sense here: If you aren’t a female, you shouldn’t be making choices about females’ reproductive rights. Also, Obama gained my infinite cheers back in May when he became the first sitting president in American history to announce his support for marriage equality. We’ve seen Obama is taking steps as far as social issues.

Obama took the lead on foreign policy, most notably seen when he gave the orders to raid a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in the spring of last year. Evidence had slowly piled up that this was Osama bin Laden’s hideout—the hiding spot of the man who oversaw the senseless murder of thousands upon thousands of people on September 11, 2001, and beyond. He ended the War in Iraq and is working on withdrawing troops from Afghanistan.
After the September 11 attack on the Libyan ambassador and 3 others, Obama handled the situation in the best way he knew how: He let the American people know what he knew at the time. When things like this happen, the amount of information to sort through is insane, confusing, and somewhere along the line, someone’s probably going to be wrong. However, Obama personally knew those four people, and the losses affected him. He wasn’t performing a cover-up—to do so would take a horrendously sick person. What does this tell us? Obama is willing to work on American foreign policy.
In a good way.
As many of you could likely figure out, this is my last post before Election Day. Next time I write a post, we will all know who our president will be for the next four years. I can’t contribute to the decision due to me being two years too young, but I certainly have high hopes for a certain candidate. Please, please vote. I don’t care who you vote for—Obama, Romney, or a third-party candidate—just VOTE! America is one of the few countries where we can vote in officials and the elections actually be legitimate and fair. However, I will make one recommendation for you, and I obviously cannot and will not force you to vote for any candidate. Nonetheless, here goes:
Elect Barack Obama for another four years as President of the United States, and we’ll see where we are four years from now. He got us on the road to a prosperous economic recovery…give him four more years, and I think we’ll all be surprised where we’re at on November 8, 2016.
In a good way.
Bonus: I’ve included the unofficial Obama campaign song for 2012, sung by Ne-Yo and Johnny Rzeznik and other awesome singers. It’s very good—check it out!
